We kicked this morning of working on our living things (creatures). I was incredibly impressed by the amount of prior learning students were able to recall from last week, especially from out talk with Colin (from the Vancouver Aquarium)! Ask your student what kind of 'living thing' they are creating. These projects are due Thursday morning first thing. In PE we focused again on teamwork and following instructions. We played a few new games today. The last one had us all moving and laughing.
The grade 6's are VERY into their floor plans. They worked feverishly through class time to calculate the area & perimeter of their home, each room and some of them even the yards!
During critical thinking we read the children's picture book, You Are Stardust by Elin Kelsey. Ask your student how a picture book fit perfectly into what we are learning in class. In poetry we continued our use of metaphors. Next Thursday we will be hosting a coffee house style 'café' where students will share their poetry.
